Well Microsoft proves once again that they simply have no creativity of their own. Zune the latest iPod wanabe will be available November 14th. The 30gig Zune player will cost around $249.00. The player (99 cents more than the iPod with the same storage amount) will come preloaded with songs, video, and images to entice customers.
iPod has iTunes and Zune will have Zune Marketplace. Similarly Zune Marketplace will offer songs for 99 cents the same as iTunes.
Microsoft has been quoted that they will take a loss on the Zune player this holiday season however they plan on sticking it out for a couple of years.
My advice would be not to invest in Microsoft’s palayer that will no doubtedly have some proprietary DRM layer that will leave you with many songs and nothing to play them on with the Microsoft decides to drop the Zune player.
One day Microsoft will stop trying to copy everyone else’s latest and greatest inventions and focus on making their existing products better.
