Well another season of Bravo’s Top Chef has come and gone. First let me congratulate Ilan Hall on his win. I won’t go as far as to say a well deserved win. I think Ilan’s food was boring and repetitive.
I was a little disappointed with this years show. I found the majority of contestants to be petty, ignorant, and overwhelmingly childish. When contestants are getting kicked off for manhandling other contestants I think the producers have lost focus on the subject. Yes, we love to be voyeurs when it comes to these reality shows but I think this show is supposed to be about cooking.
One thing I really enjoyed about this years show was Marcel. I didn’t like him as a person; I was not that impressed with his food, he was a real jerk to the others, but get a load of that haircut! Week after week I found myself laughing out loud at his haircut. Is Marcel possibly the Heat Miser’s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_Miser) twin brother?
I hope Top Chef 3 will get some serious competition. How about limiting the contestants to executive and sous chefs only? Who cares about caterers and line cooks… Lets level the playing field and get a real competition going. When you are having contestants try to wow people like Wylie Dufresne and Hubert Keller would a line cook or caterer have a chance. Lets cut out the fluff and have a serious competition, or is that another show – Iron Chef America?
And just so you know, I was rooting for Sam.
