The Magic Mouse is Not so Mighty

Apple Magic Mouse

I have been using the new Apple Magic mouse for several months now. Honestly- I love and hate it! I love the fact that there is no ball to get crapped up. I however hate the shape and feel.

Pros – The multi-touch surface is amazingly accurate and simple to use. The weight of the mouse is very nice. The fact that you never have to worry about a track ball getting clogged is fabulous!

Cons – The hard edges are less than desirable and the height of the mouse has been killing my hand. It’s shallow stature is not conducive to prolonged use. The touch surface can be a pain when working in programs that scale in or out with mouse movement.

There is plenty of room for improvement with the Magic mouse. Apple seriously needs to reincorporate the Mighty features of triggerable sensors for Dashboard and Exposé. I like the portability of using AA batteries but a dockable recharging station would be much preferred.

When my Magic mouse next prompts me with a low-batter notification I will be powering it off for good. My old Mighty mouse will be swiftly plugged-in and my tired hands will be happy again.

Sorry Magic mouse; you’re just not for me.
