I decided to Jailbreak my iPhone about a month ago when the evasi0n7 tool by evad3rs was released for iOS7. I honestly didn’t think I would find jailbreaking particularly useful. I was wrong; I’m glad I jumped down the rabbit hole.
Why jailbreak? Why not! If you take a few minutes to read and educate yourself on the benefits and (few) potential dangers of jailbreaking you will find its not that difficult nor is it that risky. The jailbreak community is very helpful and there are plenty of websites dedicated to helping you find your way.
Below is a list of the packages I’ve installed on my iOS devices. I can’t imagine not having CCSettings, Purge, SwipeSelection and f.lux on my iPhone or iPad. They are MUST have apps!
Barrel – A totally visual tweak well worth they price! Barrel adds transition effects to your icons as you scroll through your multiple home screens and folder screens. There are currently 18 transitions offered. I’m using the “Curl and Roll Away” mode.

CCSettings – Adds a bunch of additional toggles to Control Center. You choose what you want to show and the order in which they show. I really love this tweak!

f.lux – It’s hard to explain how awesome f.lux is! I couldn’t wait to jailbreak my iPad just so I would have it on both my iOS devices. If you use your iOS device at night or in the morning this will save your eyes and your sleep! Simply put it adds a warm glow to your screen which makes it less shocking. Took a day or so to get used to it; but this is a must have!

iCleaner Pro – Nice simple tool for removing unused and unnecessary files from your device. My first run saved me nearly 2GB’s of space. Provides simple and safe backup just in case you have an issue.

NCAllOnly – I really dislike the iOS7 Notification screen. I preferred the old iOS6 simplistic version. NCAllOnly takes me back to the simpler days.

Purge – My number 1 favorite must have! I always quit apps in the background. There is usually no reason to leave tons of apps running. This is especially useful for apps like INRIX or Waze that are serious battery hogs. Love It!

Slo-mo Mod – One of the iPhone 5s’s selling points is its ability to take slow-motion video. Well the Slo-Mo mod ads that ability for older iPhones (mostly the iPhone 5). As a bonus the mod has a dependency for another packages called Burst mode. As the name implies the mod also enables you to take burst photos with the camera app.

SwipeSelection Pro – It doesn’t sound revolutionary; just wait until you’ve used it a few times! SwipeSelection Pro allows you to use a left-right gesture on the iOS keyboard to move the cursor and select text. This is a must have if you write a lot on your device.

BytaFont 2 – Change your system fonts! Tired of that boring iOS font, change it up with BytaFont. I’m using the Neuropol font on my iPhone.

ClearFolders – It’s not revolutionary… it removes the blurred folder backgrounds leaving you with beautiful, transparent and minimalist looking folders.

iWidgets – Allows HTML Widgets on the Springboard. I’m on the fence with iWidgets. Much like OS X widgets I think their days are numbered but I used it to add a weather widget on my Springboard.

WinterBoard – This is what everyone uses to get those awesome themes that make your device look like completely different from your stock iOS. There are tones of themes out there! I’m using the “Circulus” theme and I really like it.

Zeppelin – Another visual just for fun tweak. Allows you to get rid of your Carrier Logo. There are lots of replacement images out there. I currently swapped out my AT&T logo for a Shamrock that came in the “Irish Zeppelin Pack”. Sports fans and gamers will love Zeppelin.
