What a crazy world we live in. Thank goodness for all the great laws that keep us dumb citizens in check. One law I have particularly grown fond of is a Colorado law that states “No person shall dye or color live fowl, rabbits, or any other animals.”. What?
Okay – let’s delve into this one… There is a hairdresser that lives in Colorado that has “stained” her white poodle with beat juice and or Kool-Aid to raise funds and awareness in support of breast cancer. The Boulder Humane Society has warned the hairdresser several times not to dye her dog. Well she didn’t listen to the Humane Society and as a result they issued her a ticket on March 1.
The hairdresser has been accused of dyeing her dog violating the law stated above. The law actually is used to prevent people from mass dyeing chicks and bunnies around Easter time. Let me say that I am totally against any and all animal cruelty and applaud the Humane Society for most of their work. This case however seems a bit much.
The hairdresser claims she has always used organic products to color her poodles (yes this is the second one). She also states that she has worked with an organic pet company on developing pet safe colors. She first colored her poodle for a breast cancer haircutting fundraiser. The hairdresser stated that people gave “fistfuls of cash” just for petting the pink poodle.
The case is scheduled to be heard on April 7th. There is a $1,000 fine for this crime. Personally I think she should be jailed for owning a poodle. In addition to owning a poodle and dyeing it pink, I think she should get the death penalty. Just Kidding 🙂 I think I’m going to go home and dye my schipperke (Toby) Green for Saint Patrick’s Day. I wonder if they will lock me up? And yes my schipperke can kick your poodles ass.
