I was at my daily coffee stop today when my blissful routine was disturbed by a disgruntled customer.
From the corner of my eye I could see him angrily walk up to one of the counter girls asking who the manger was. The fact that he had to ask twice since the girl didn’t hear him the first time didn’t help. The girl pointed to the manger who was working a register in the front of the store trying to keep the rush hour crowd flowing.
Off like a bullet he headed toward the manager. The disgruntled customer interrupted the manager in the middle of a transaction. “There ain’t no Sprite.” The manager looked at him and said “Sorry Sir, I will fix that in one second for you”. “There wasn’t any Sprite yesterday neither”… followed by sever expletives.
The manager finished helping his customer, closed the lane and proceeded to the back to change out the Sprite product. All the while the disgruntled customer was making sure everyone in the store knew that for two days there had been no Sprite and the manger didn’t know how to do his job etc etc.
Coffee in hand I made my way out of the store. I really had to hold my tongue. I was so close to giving that guy a piece of my mind. All the way in to work I couldn’t think about anything else.
We are all in a hurry. We are all the most important person in our minds. But, there are lots of people in this world that are equally as important. I simply can’t stand people who think they are better than everyone else. No one appreciated the ignorant customers tirade to belittle the manager.
To make a long story short – slow down, appreciate those who try to make your day better. And most importantly don’t be an ASS!
