A sports bar down in Florida has recently been pinched by some angry animal rights folks over an arcade like lobster catching game.
The Royal Palm Beach restaurant offers diners a claw machine to grab a free lobster dinner. For $2 you can have a go at grabbing a yummy prize.
The Animal Rights Foundation of Florida believes the machine could rip off the lobsters’ claws, legs and/or antenna. They believe it is cruel and should be immediately removed. The ARFF also states lobsters are subject to cruel conditions such as overcrowded tanks, and that adding the claw to their environment is causing great emotional stress.
Restaurant owner John Baker purchased the machine from The Love Maine Lobster Claw company.
“There can be a line waiting to play it… I have never seen anything come off these lobsters, I don’t see it (as) cruel at all.” John Baker
ARFF obviously has too much free time on their hands. Believe me; I am all for animal rights. But this is a little over the edge.
The lobsters are doomed from the moment they are trapped. I would assume being thrown into a boiling pot of water is also a bit stressful. But really, who cares – they taste so damn good…
Hmm, What’s for dinner tonight – Lobster!
