Why was everyone keeping this plug-in from me? I love Safari; yes I actually do! It isn’t the fastest and it isn’t perfect by any stretch. That said, Safari’s integration with OS X and it’s various apps make it my browser of choice (followed closely by Chrome).
One thing that set’s Safari back from Chrome and Firefox is the ability to add functional/useful extensions (plug-ins). Extensions are useful however too much of anything is never good. I personally like the fact that there are not a ton of Safari plug-ins available. I have found one Safari plug-in that I urge all Safari users to try.
ClickToFlash is a “Flash-blocking plug-in for Safari on Mac OS X”. I think it works better than any Flash blocker on any browser that I have tried. Once installed, all Flash is blocked. Want to see the Flash, simply click the blocked Flash image and it magically appears. Have specific Flash that you never want blocked- no problem; simply ‘option + click’ to add it to a whitelist. Nice!
The latest stable version of ClickToFlash works on OS X 10.4 (Tiger) – 10.6 (Snow Leopard). A big thank you to the folks at ClickToFlash. Great Job.
