Did you hear that? It was the sound of a pin dropping. It’s so quiet here… Where is here you ask? OBX – the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore, birds chirping, and the clicking of this keyboard is all that is to be heard.
I love coming here this time of the year. All the junk stores are closed, the tourist are no where to be found. Yes it is a little empty- okay it’s really empty. There is no one here except the locals who are lucky enough to live here year-round.
Some would not consider this a vacation. It’s cold, it’s deserted, and it’s quiet. Ah, I couldn’t ask for anything more. If you have never ventured to the beach during the winter you should really give it a try. If you can get away for the weekend it will be worth it. Just don’t plan on doing a lot. After an hour of walking on the beach the only footprints in the sand will be your own.
Enough of this digital distraction- there is a beautiful sky, a comfy chair and a warm cup of coffee calling my name.
See you in a few days, maybe!
