Gastric Banding
I walked into the hospital two hours prior to surgery at six in the morning. Since I had popped a Xanax an hour earlier I wasn’t feeling very nervous. I went to registration and then to the blood-lab for typing. After three painful pokes the not so lovely Phlebotomist finally got some blood. Not a good start… After the vampire was done with me I went off to the surgery wing.
The folks in the surgery wing were awesome. I got setup with my standard issue hospital gown and bed. The anasethiologist came in and set me up with a central line. After a few minutes it was kisses to my lovely wife and off I went. After a short roll down a hallway I was in the surgical room and instructed to shimmy over to the operating table. As soon as I hit the table it was all lights out!
I awoke in the recovery room writhing pain. I remember the staff asking me to calm down and try to control my breathing. No B.S. – it hurt! It didn’t take long for the pain meds to kick-in. I don’t really remember being rolled to my room. I guess I was out of it for a while.
